The water session is half the trip. In this configuration one generally plans at least one dedicated lagoon session: the couple in the waist-deep shallows at golden hour, the dress floating on water so clear the shadow on the sand below is part of the composition; and the underwater chapter, which in Maldivian visibility is the gentlest, brightest version of the craft on Earth, the first meter below the surface, light shafts, a second dress that can swim. December to April is the dry season and the recommendation: the northeast monsoon's clear skies, calm lagoons, peak visibility for the underwater work, and peak prices to match. May to November, the southwest monsoon, is greener-skied and gustier, with more frequent (still mostly brief) rain, meaningfully softer rates, and, for the wildlife-minded, the manta and whale-shark season on the western atolls, a day-after excursion argument all by itself. The permanent constants: air and water within a degree of perfect year-round, and the equatorial light schedule, fast dawns, fast dusks, plan by the minute.

What a Maldives wedding costs

The Maldives price with Bora Bora at the summit of the tropical market, with one structural difference: the one-island-one-resort model means the resort choice IS the budget decision, from stylish four-star islands to the storied sanctuaries, and everything on your island (dinners, excursions, the ceremony package) follows its tier. The honest structure: this is a fused wedding-honeymoon where the trip is the budget and the ceremony its crown; the levers are resort tier, season, and trip length, and the lines that return hardest are the sandbank excursion, the water sessions, and enough days for the lagoon to slow you down properly, which is, after all, what you came for.
